1. The Indian Constitution was adopted on 26th January 1950 and came into effect on 26th January 1950.
2. It is the longest-written Constitution of any sovereign country in the world, comprising of 448 articles in 22 parts, 12 schedules, and 117 amendments.
3. The Constitution of India is federal in nature, but with a unitary bias.
4. It establishes a parliamentary system of government, federal structure of government, and a separation of powers among the three branches of government: the legislature, executive, and judiciary.
5. The Constitution guarantees fundamental rights and directive principles of state policy to citizens.
6. The Constitution also provides for an independent judiciary, which plays an important role in protecting the fundamental rights of citizens and in maintaining the separation of powers.
7. The Constitution defines the power distribution between the central government and the states, and it can be amended by the Parliament by a special majority.
8. The Constitution of India was primarily influenced by the Constitution of Government of India Act 1935, the Government of India Act 1935, and the British Government's India Independence Act 1947.
9. The Constitution of India has been amended more than 100 times.
10. The Constitution of India is the supreme law of India, and all other laws must conform to its principles.
