Bhishma Pitamah was one of the main characters in the Hindu epic "Mahabharata". He was a warrior prince who was known for his bravery, loyalty, and wisdom. He was born as the son of King Shantanu and the river goddess Ganga.
In the Mahabharata, Bhishma Pitamah played a pivotal role as a counselor and warrior. He was the grandfather of both the Pandavas and the Kauravas, the two rival factions in the great battle of Kurukshetra. Despite this relationship, Bhishma remained impartial and did not take sides, choosing instead to uphold his duty and loyalty to the throne of Hastinapura.

In the battle of Kurukshetra, Bhishma played a major role as the commander-in-chief of the Kaurava army. Despite his loyalty to the Kauravas, he was ultimately defeated by the Pandavas, who were guided by Lord Krishna. After his defeat, Bhishma lay on a bed of arrows for 58 days, waiting for the right astrological moment to die and attain moksha, or liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
In conclusion, Bhishma Pitamah was a revered and respected character in the Mahabharata, known for his bravery, wisdom, and unwavering sense of duty and loyalty. His role in the epic was broad, serving as both a counselor and a warrior, and his legacy continues to influence Hindu society and culture to this day.
